“The studio we did A O in is a converted bank in the center of town in Greenfield, Massachusetts called Bank Row,” explains Appomattox vocalist and guitarist Nick Gaynier. “Weird metal ceiling in the live room, hardword floors - amazing sounds from the room mics. It's also an art space, so there's bizarre sculptures everywhere- waiting to jump at you in the dark. The vocal room feels like the executive office of a disgraced public servant who had to leave in a hurry. It would sound equally great in there to yell at a flunkie or to hurl a glass of cognac into the fireplace.”
In October 2007, Appomattox began recording with Justin Pizzoferrato (Dinosaur Jr., J. Mascis, Kim Gordon) at bank Row Studios and emerged with “A O”, their 13-song debut and follow up to a critically acclaimed EP released in late 2006.
“A O” appeals to the concept of a record as much as the songs themselves, culminating in a tightly wound series of what could be singles. All songs important to the whole, yet no song would falter if left alone
“A O” is a series of songs accountable to each other, none seeming to want to play the role of rock filler. There is a turn, something unique in every song as much as there is a melody and purpose - no part rushing to the next.
Formed in late 2003, Appomattox is Nick Gaynier (vcl., gtr.), Dave Nurmi (bass) and James Mello (drums). No adjectives required, like the songs the members play equal parts importance in personal style and execution. Often described as, “One beat short of an after-party”, Appomattox’s live shows convey the raw energy and musical sensibility that carried onto the record a feeling of purpose, harkening the likes of Polvo, Shudder to Think and …And You Will Know Us By The Traill of the Dead.

Recorded over a two month period with the famed Steve Albini (Nirvana, Pixies), the follow-up to the critically acclaimed Icarus will take you on a blissed out trip through your subconscious. The seamless interplay of the instruments on this record is stunning, putting on display a band that is a true sum of its parts.
Rarely will one hear a band with as much control over the space between the notes as the notes themselves. This album is an incredibly well-crafted opus that moves effortlessly between songs, capturing the listener's attention for the entire record.
In a split release with The Forms own label, Threespheres, Triple Down is proud to release the vinyl version of the record.
The vinyl includes a bonus track not available on the CD version, and comes with a special code in the packaging that entitles you to a free download of the record.

This amazing collection of music is the soundtrack to Matthew Nourse's gorgeous film The Pacific & Eddy. Featuring original music for the film by Kelli Scarr, as well as tracks from Brit-rock legend Nikki Sudden, The Jacobites, Epic Soundtracks, The Out Crowd and Pom Pom Diary, this soundtrack is the perfect complement to a rainy Sunday afternoon.
Kelli Scarr's acoustically provocative title track, The Pacific & Eddy, sets the tone for the soundtrack. Her music creates an ethereal sound-scape, moving from subtle and stark acoustic pieces, to compositionally dramatic powerhouses such as One Sad Boy.
Enter Nikki Sudden, Epic Soundtracks, and The Jacobites, bringing an altogether different sound with great song-writing and a perfect blend of folk-rock sensibility. Meeting somewhere between Bob Dylan and early Replacements, these songs are a testament to the true singer-songwriter.
Purchase includes an immediate link to a high-quality (192kps), full digital download of the album to hold you over until the beautiful double-disc CD featuring Michelle Blade's original art from the film, designed by Brooklyn's own Tricia Kleinot arrives on your doorstep.
